BE STILL AND KNOW…

I know that many of you from the blog title today would know that I am referencing Psalm 46 verse 10.

Are you going through a hard place right now? Is the noise a distraction? Has it become your focus?

Psalm 46 is a powerful reminder that God is the safe place for His children. You can hide in Him from

all the chaos and find peace in the midst of chaos of every kind. In God you are protected.

He is a refuge- a place of security but He also is a place of strength. He provides help for every kind of trouble!

This Psalm speaks so loudly of who God is in the midst of situations that can cause fear and

uncertainty. After all is said and done He says, Be still and know that I am God. I will beexalted…everywhere.

Here it is. Read it aloud.

Better yet, you can sing it aloud. No matter what you choose to do don’t miss the message that God

is your Protector, your stability and your safe place.

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even

though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of

the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the

break of dawn. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah Come, behold the works of

the Lord, Who has made desolations in the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;

He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

More Encouragement For Today

In Psalm 46:10: Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

is a great reminder of who God is.

God, His way will triumph in everything and will triumph everywhere. No matter what is going on in your life,

your family, your community, your city, your nation no matter what is going on in the world-the

chaos, the turmoil God will triumph.

How?

Through you!

Have you ever wondered why Be still and know that I am God is so compelling?

It is such a powerful command and yet you can sense God the Father’s heart of love for us. You can

sense His gentleness. His care. His wisdom. His power.

He says:

Shh it will be ok-I’m here.

Let Me hug you tight…in the midst of your confusion.

Let Me wipe those tears…in the midst of your troubles.

Let Me kiss that bruised elbow or that bruised knee…in the midst of the battle.

Take My hand I’m lifting you up…I’ll speak for you.

Shh it will be alright, you’ll see.

But, if you don’t get still-you will never know, see or hear Him clearly.

The noise will challenge who you think God is. The noise will blur the picture you have in your mind

of who He is and what He can do.

Be still…

It is time to know the truth! My Plans will come to pass. My Will, will be executed upon the earth

and in your life.

In the middle of the chaos…Be still and know that I am God

In the middle of the shaking…Be still and know that I am God

In the uncertainty…Be still and know that I am God

In your stillness- God will show up.

Stillness means trust. You are not trying to fix your life. You are not trying to fix the problem.

Your trust speaks loudly in the stillness and it is a heart posture that God loves and will respond to.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Be still and look for God. He is there.

So

Every time you’re tempted to act unwisely…Be still

Every time you’re tempted to take matters into your own hands…Be still

Every time you’re tempted to defend yourself and your decisions for God…Be still

No matter the trouble; the chaos; the battle… Be still and know who your God is.

Every time you’re tempted to speak out of your pain…He’ll give you His Words

Every time you’re tempted to give up because you’re weary…He’ll exchange your weakness for His strength

Every time you’re tempted to give in to doubt…He’ll provide fresh hope for you

In the stillness your knowledge of who God is will be properly defined. You get to know Him for yourself. He becomes more than the lead in stories being told by others. The God of the Bible becomes your God. You now have your own story.

Be still and know … I know who you are and I can see you (Genesis 16:13)

Be still and know… I am not late neither are you running out of time (Psalm 31:15)

Be still and know… I am not a far off; I am near to you (Acts 17:27-28)

Be still and know… I have all your tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8)

Be still and know…

The noise may obscure the way you see Me but I have not forgotten you (psalm 46:1)

I have not forgotten the dreams you have or the hope and desires you carry in your heart (Jeremiah

29:11).

Be still…

See Me in the dark-I am that light coming in.

See Me in the shakings; The turmoil; The chaos. The uncertainty. In the midst of it all

Be still…Look for Me. Know.
