Can you keep a secret?
You’re about to discover 3 reasons why trust is important in your relationship. These are 3 reasons
you can easily start developing today to set yourself apart from the other women out there, if you aren’t practicing them already.
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering “Did I share too much information” or “Should I have kept my mouth zipped?”, or “Why did I tell my friends a secret that my boo shared with me?” you are in the right place.
If you can keep a secret:
Your relationship will grow deeper. You will find favour with you partner and the relationship will be strong.
The first reason why trust is important in your relationship- If you can keep a secret it deepens your relationships.
Deepens Your Relationships
No one is perfect not even the man you love- or the man you will love who you haven’t met yet!
He comes to you with his past, his attitudes, his likes, and his dislikes. He has a history.
He comes to you broken in places you don’t see but God does.
And if God has drawn you alongside him-it is to bear him up in various places where he might be weak.
When a man exposes his weakness or his struggle to you-he’s let you into an area of his life that is sacred and hidden from public eyes.
No matter his struggle, letting you in took courage and trust.
He trusts you with it. He trusts you with himself. He trusts you and places himself in your hands.
Why?
- He believes you will stand with him
- He believes you will pray with him
- He believes you will encourage him
- He believes you will be there when he gains victory over the issue
- He trusts you that love covers over a multitude of sin
Every day is a good day to hear from God. LORD, speak to my heart Journal is perfect to use every day as you ask the LORD to speak to your heart about anything that concerns you. Use this Journal to record what the LORD will speak to you daily. Find direction, clarity, peace and healing as you listen to His voice.
I am not here talking about abuse or any other thing that will repulse you or cause you hurt.
I’m talking about a weakness that God may be calling you to stand with him in.
Think about it-you have your own weaknesses that you are working on and while you do so with the LORD you don’t want it exposed.
In your relationship trust is a two-way street.
As you prepare to be a virtuous wife hear what Proverbs 31: 10-12 says,
Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So, he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.
Deepening your relationship through trust in each other is key to having a successful relationship.
Here’s the second reason why trust is important in your relationship.
You Will Find Favour
Let’s look at this- in the Book of Esther, when Queen Esther was told by Mordecai of the great threat that was upon the Jews because of jealous wicked Haman she knew that the only thing that would save the Jews was the favour of the King, her husband (but she knew she needed the favour of God first).
She still hadn’t told anyone her ancestry-she kept her mouth shut and believed in her heart that she would find favour with God first which would then give her favour with her King.
What did she do?
Instead
She sacrificed her comfort.
How?-she fasted- she subjected her body and will to God- she prayed-she asked God for favour with her husband, the King Ah.
She said if “I perish I perish” but I am going to do what God has called me to do even though I don’t know what the outcome will be.
If you can keep a secret-you too will find favour not just with man but with God.
I’m talking about favour that can change lives, change communities, families, and nations.
I’m talking about the kind of favour that can change the world-nothing frivolous.
Favour that can change, your life.
You see Kingdom marriages build and advance the Kingdom of Almighty God.
It isn’t about getting a car or house- God can do that too.
But He is FOR Kingdom building and He knows that requires favour.
Favour is about being chosen-it isn’t about me washing your back and then you wash mine.
It isn’t reciprocal.
Favour from God is 1- sided. Yes, it is.
God sends His favour to you.
Favour means, an act of kindness beyond what is due or usual. It isn’t earned.
Man, also gives you favour just as the King stretched his sceptre to Queen Esther so will God stretch His sceptre to you- they work together.
Keep a secret and receive favour from both God and man, the man who will pour his heart out to you. The one who will not hide his scars or his secret faults.
His heart will be opened to you-so you will receive favour from the heart of God through man.
When you are in a relationship be trustworthy- Keep a secret-build a life.
Listen to Proverbs 31: 10-12 (KJV) which says,
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

Your Relationship Will Be Strong
Trust builds strength and creates sustainability in your relationship.
Have you ever seen a building whose foundation was poorly constructed?
It is either leaning over to one side Or parts of the inside structure is sunken
If weight or pressure is added it cannot withstand it.
Maybe the material it is made with starts eroding bit by bit until it topples over completely.
What about where the house is built?
- Sand
- Rock
- Swamp
- Flood prone area
- Riverbed
- On the seashore
Wisdom says build your house/ relationship upon the Rock:
- who is Jesus
- who is the Word
Hear what scripture says Matthew 7: 24-27:
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
A house is built for protection from the storms of life-trials, hardship.
When you go inside and shut the door
- Will you find strength there?
- Will you find trust there?
- Will you find the word there?
- Will you find encouragement there?
- Will you find peace there?
- Will you find a friend there?
- Will you find Jesus Christ there?

The house is your relationship!
When you build your relationship-it is as if you are building a house unto God.
To show His goodness and His grace
You build knowing that you are building a relationship of strength and one that can withstand pressure from without and within.
Trials will come-when they do:
- Will you turn tail and run?
- Will you hide out in 1 room and never come out?
- Will you stay silent?
- Will you be the first to leave?
- Will you start the blame game?
Use both the trials and the periods of peace to build that which has been given to you.
Building takes time and patience it doesn’t matter what you are building.
If you are learning to trust, it takes time
If you are learning the communicate better, it takes time
If you are learning to trust God in everything, it takes time
If you are building a relationship that is strong and secure, it takes time
If you are getting to know your partner, it takes time
Know how to read the building plan so that you get the house you had in mind.
- Trust what you see
- Trust what you hear
- Trust yourself
- Trust God to give you the best
Do not give the building of your relationship to all and sundry-they will build what’s in their heart not your heart or God’s heart.
Psalm 127:1 a says Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain who build it.
Build your house/relationship with the Chief corner stone who is Jesus. Every block or milestone in your relationship-present it to God.
Hear what Isaiah 28:16 says:
Therefore, thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily.
Let me say again building relationship, like building a house-takes time.
Be patient.
Conclusion
No matter what you are building, building takes time. Trust takes time to grow and deepen.
Let me remind you of the 3 reasons why trust is important in your relationship:
#1 it deepens your relationship
#2 You will find favour
#3 it builds strength and sustainability in your relationship
Build Wisely.
